Wadi El Rayan Reserve is located in the southwestern part of Fayoum Governorate. Wadi El Rayan consists of the Upper Lake, the Lower Lake, the waterfalls area that connects the two lakes, the Ain El Rayan area south of the Lower Lake, the Jabal El Rayan area which is the area surrounding the springs, and the Jabal El Mudawara area which is located near the Lower Lake.

Wadi El Rayan is characterized by its integrated desert environment, including sand dunes, natural springs, diverse plant life, various animals, and marine fossils. The waterfalls area is also considered one of the areas for various marine sports. The reserve contains 15 types of wild animals, the most important of which are: the white gazelle, the Egyptian gazelle, the fennec fox, and the wolf. There are also several types of falcons.

  • Carry plenty of water and food, as services are limited within the reserve.
  • It is recommended to use a vehicle suitable for sandy terrain when traveling off-road.
  • Stay on designated trails, respect wildlife, and leave no litter.
  • Check wind conditions before sandboarding or boating.
